Steve Wellman, a soybean producer from Syracuse, Nebraska, is President of the American Soybean Association (ASA). He has served as First Vice President, Treasurer and Vice President of ASA, Chairman of ASA's Public Affairs Committee (2011), Membership & Corporate Relations Committee (2010), and Finance Committee (2007-09). He also served on the Finance Committee 2006-2009, Public Affairs Committee 2006-2011, Audit Committee 2007-2008, and Investment Committee 2006-2007.

Wellman joined the Nebraska Soybean Association in 1985, and has held leadership positions of Chairman in 2004-2005, President in 2002-2003, Vice President in 2001 and Treasurer in 2000.

On his farm, Wellman grows soybeans, corn, winter wheat, and alfalfa, and also manages a cow-calf herd.

He has also been an active member of the Outstanding Farmers of America, member of the Nebraska and National Corn Growers Association, Nebraska Cattlemen, and past president and vice-president of Local Cooperative.

He enjoys watching and attending high school and college athletic and music events, and traveling with his family.

He was an ASA/DuPont Young Leader in 1994, participated in the ASA/Syngenta Leadership at Its Best program in 2006, and was the Nebraska Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmer in 1989.

The American Soybean Association is a national, not-for-profit, grassroots membership organization that develops and implements policies to increase the profitability of its members and the entire soybean industry.

The American Soybean Association was founded in 1920.
